ECommerce businesses have become a lucrative industry in our current digital era with worldwide retail eCommerce sales projected to reach a staggering $6.169 trillion by 2023. ECommerce platforms like WooCommerce offer a vast range of features and resources to allow users to get a share in this booming industry by enabling them to get their online store up and running effortlessly. Building up on WordPress, WooCommerce is an open-source eCommerce plugin, designed to be used by the full spectrum of small to large-sized online merchants. However, with the growing competition in the market, having faster WooCommerce sites becomes a necessity for improved conversion rates, repeat business, and search engine rankings. The changes to Google Search algorithms also put emphasis on a faster-loading eCommerce site for staying competitive in the market and should be a major area of focus for eCommerce enterprises moving forward.
If you are using WooCommerce to manage your eCommerce operations and want to seamlessly achieve full-stack integration for all your line-of-business applications for it through a single platform to automate and streamline your business processes, then employ APPSeCONNECT’s Integration and achieve a new level of improvement to your business metrics.
How to Achieve Faster WooCommerce Sites to Get More Revenue
WooCommerce is one of the most popular eCommerce platforms in the market, powering over 4.4 million websites across the globe, and belongs on the list of the top eCommerce platforms to look out for in 2023 for businesses planning to get started in the online commerce business. While the WooCommerce plugin can be easily implemented on top of a WordPress website, many companies overlook or fail to optimize the webstore for faster load speeds or performance. Having faster WooCommerce sites has a significant positive impact on the user experience which promotes more successful checkouts and plays a key role in the growth and visibility of the eCommerce business.
With the understanding of how most new eCommerce businesses lack the knowledge and experience for optimizing their online store and achieving faster WooCommerce sites, APPSeCONNECT in collaborating with Ebizindia Consulting Pvt. Ltd. recently conducted a webinar titled, Faster WooCommerce Sites Get More Revenue, showcasing the tips and tricks along with the best practices for building faster WooCommerce sites.
The major topics discussed during the webinar included:
- Need for faster WooCommerce Sites
- Core web vitals and how to measure them
- Basic and Advance factors impacting load speeds
- Real-world case studies
- Automating data between WooCommerce through Integration
The webinar was conducted on the 14th of December and was hosted by Ms. Jhilik Dasgupta, VP of Marketing, APPSeCONNECT, and Mr. Arun Agrawal, Director & Web Performance Consultant, Ebizindia Consulting Pvt. Ltd., to highlight how to achieve faster WooCommerce sites and improve revenue generation for businesses. APPSeCONNECT would like to extend our thanks to all who attended the webinar with us and made it a success.
Some of the major questions brought up and answered during the webinar include:
Q1. You talked about a CDN. How does it benefit a store owner who only sells to a specific country What if one sells around the world?
A. CDN is a Content Delivery Network and has multiple data centers around the world. So, a data center should always be available near the regional location of the business. They pick up information from the business’s website and store it locally to load and display the static website information faster from a data center near to the website visitor instead of directly sending the request to the main website which will take longer to load. Even for selling within a specific country, offloading website information to a CDN can bring down the cost of data storage for the business’s server.
Q2. You have suggested reducing the number of plugins I have. However, I cannot see any plugin that I can remove. What to do?
A. If all the plugins are necessary for running the store, the best practice to follow for having faster WooCommerce sites is to have all the plugins be up to date. Optimizing and decluttering becomes the key factor for such scenarios.
Q3. I find that a lot of people add items to the cart but do not complete the purchase. What to do?
A. To better understand the reason behind abandoned cart cases, implementing a Mystery Shopping strategy where a user that has no experience shopping from the webstore browses items, adds them to the cart, and then completes the purchase can provide valuable insights. Through observing how the user navigates the webstore and the steps where the user is experiencing difficulties, the hurdles to a successful purchase can be better identified and then ironed out.
Q4. I have a bounce rate on my product page. How can I reduce this?
A. Bounce rate is the number of visitors that land on a page and exit directly from the website without visiting any other pages on the website. A high bounce rate indicates the visitor is not finding the thing they are looking for on the website. Such a scenario mostly happens when an ad campaign is run with a specific message but when the user lands on the webpage, they do not find a connection with the ad. By removing the disconnect between the advertisement, promotion, and landing page, the website bounce rate can be reduced.
