According to the latest reports by White Paper, “Magento’s next-generation platform handles up to 39% more orders per hour and delivers nearly instant server response times for catalog browsing.”
The e-commerce platform Magento 2.0 was designed while keeping certain challenging goals in consideration:
- Reinforcing better performance and unmatched scalability to the business
- Enabling faster time to market and easier upgrades
- Reducing the cost of total ownership (TCO)
- Providing enhanced functionality than its previous version
The Result?
Magento 2.0 succeeded in achieving all these goals with a more flexible and modular layout along with a comprehensive set of performance that delivered the following perquisites for its users:
- Providing impetus to the growth and flexibility of databases for efficient handling of peak loads
- Enhancing the efficiency of the backend operations
- Speeding up the response time of the servers for all site activities
- Optimizing the web pages

Read below the expert views on the various aspects of Magento 2.0 from the perspective of four of Magento’s esteemed partners:
1. Tim Hannes (Front-End Developer, Pixafy):
- What is the best feature of Magento 2 in your opinion?
As a frontend developer, the addition of several new layout elements makes moving, creating, or extending existing blocks and templates much easier. Also, the 50% increased page load time, as well as the much improved UX of the admin area is great improvements over Magento 1.
- Which Feature/Functionality of Magento 1 you wish to have in Magento 2?
I wish that modules created for Magento 1 were able to be ported to Magento 2 instead of completely rewriting functionality.
- According to you, how is the Magento Community going to change with the growth of Magento 2?
The Magento Marketplace is enforcing coding standards/best practices for third party modules and extensions. It means more consistency across a whole codebase and less time modifying other developers code.
2. François-Jérôme Gosselin (President, Novatize Inc.)
- What is the best feature of Magento 2 in your opinion?
Improvements to the administration panel makes it much easier for eCommerce managers to operate efficiently. For example, the creation of configurable products is now automated by selecting pre-defined attributes that constitute the simple products.
In Magento 1, you had to create each and every simple product an associate them with their parent. Another great example of improved operations in the administrative panel is the new grid filtering and searching capabilities. You have to try it to truly enjoy the time-saving side of it.
- Which feature/functionality of Magento 1 you wish to have in Magento 2?
Magento lived to the community’s expectations. I think their roadmap is pretty straightforward to offering all features merchants need from a platform like Magento. Without comparing Magento 1 and Magento 2, I think that Magento should include more and more marketing automation in their platform to improve the success rate of Magento merchants, even though it’s already the best out there!
- According to you, how is the Magento community going to change with the growth of Magento 2?
The new Magento B2B suite coming out with Magento 2.2 is going to revolutionize the industry as more businesses will be able to adapt to eCommerce reality. B2B merchants will be able to digitalize their activities and turn their organization to live up to the upcoming omnichannel necessity of successful manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors.

Magento 2 has been a great addition to world’s most prominent ecommerce platform and to say the least it has only elevated itself and made it even better for developing world-class ecommerce stores. In terms of the features, the list is never ending but to talk about one, it would be the performance aspect of the stores built on 2. The new generation has improved its indexers, the performance kit and the Varnish caching integration.
Also, the load speed across checkout pages and catalog has improved by at least over 50% than earlier, enabling faster conversion and lesser bounce rate. This has spread a wave of happiness across business owners as now they are able to make better returns out of their online business.
There has been a lot of other enhancements as well with Magento 2 with the Introduction of B2B, Social, Improved Business Intelligence, and Order Management System, but all of these are individual massive component suites making the stores more effective and scalable and also giving the flexibility to business owners to pursue the kind of business model they wish to undertake for the business growth.

The feature of Recurring Profile with PayPal billing agreements. This feature was used for subscription type workflow and it was available in Magento 1 but in the current generation of Magento 2, it is unavailable.
- According to you, how is the Magento community going to change with the growth of Magento 2?
With the rapid growth of Magento 2 over the span of 2 years, the Magento ecosystem (community) maintains to grow even faster.
The level at which the upgradation is taking place within Magento OMS, Magento BI and new introduction such Magento B2B, Magento Social, etc. signify the room for innovation within the community.
This exhibits the kind of reception the community members shall receive from the organization by pitching forward newer and more efficient ideas to ease & make online businesses more efficient.
Also, we feel that the events such as Magento Meet up’s, Magento Live and other such initiatives will catch pace and the number shall increase instantaneously, which in turn will facilitate the sharing and gaining of knowledge across the ecosystem

The guys from Magento do an incredibly great job in raising the community and hope to see more and more contributions from the community in return.
Some people don’t realize that it is not necessary to be a developer to be able to contribute: you can do translations, write good educational posts, like “Feature X: do’s and dont’s”, record YouTube videos, etc.
