Shopify is one of the leading Ecommerce platforms in the world and allows a customer to easily create an ecommerce website using the platform and run their business. All major ecommerce sites provide discounts to their customers now-a-days, offering different types of discount coupons. If your website is on Shopify, you can do the same too!
A Shopify site administrator can create discount coupons for the customers and during the checkout process, customers can apply a discount coupon on a particular order. In this article we will go through the process of creating a discount coupon in Shopify and how a customer can apply that discount coupon during the checkout process.
For creating a discount coupon, first a user has to login to the Shopify admin panel. On the left hand side, you will find a “Discounts” tab. Click on that tab and a page will appear for creating a discount coupon. In that page on the upper right corner click on the Add Discount Coupon button, a new page appears for creating a new discount coupon with various options.
For creating a discount, you have to perform following steps.
- First you need to give e name for the coupon. Here for example we are creating a coupon name “FestiveSale01”.
- Then we need to provide a rule in the condition section. Here we are creating a rule for giving 10% discount if the order value will be greater than 299. There are other options also in the condition section like you can give a fixed amount discount.
- You can also set an expiry date for the coupon.
- You set a per customer base limit on the created coupon.
After setting the required option you can save the coupon and distribute it to the customers by emails or other means. Next, after getting the coupon code, the customer can use the coupon code during placing an order and get the desired output.
