The Magento Live India 2017 was the first ever Magento Live event organized in India & APPSeCONNECT team was immensely excited for it. The event was held on May 2nd, 2017 at the Leela Palace Hotel, Bengaluru and saw over 800 attendees and it was packed with business & educational program.
Like every other Magento event held worldwide, there was a treat for all Magento enthusiasts: The Magento Contribution Day, where Magento developers got an opportunity to work side by side with Magento 2 core architects and contribute to feature improvements and get interesting insights into Magento 2 diagnostics.
“Updates made by you, innovation shared for everyone.” – That’s what Magento Contribution Days stand for!
In India, two Magento Contribution Days were organized, one in Bangalore and one in Chennai. The APPSeCONNECT Team participated in the Bangalore Magento Contribution Day on 3rd May 2017, which was held in the PayPal Office.

The event started off at 10 a.m. in the morning and continued till 5 pm. There was a total of 30 attendees including us.
Let’s have a look at the process which was followed that day:
- At first, one had to complete the formalities of registration.
- The next step was to do Bug identification from the GIT Repository.
- Then we had to try to get the issue solved.
- The Magento team would finally check on it and merge the fix.
Contributions by APPSeCONNECT Team in the Magento Contribution Day:
Feature Improvement: Website-wise inventory management.
Suggestions Provided: Website wise data should be provided in product download API. Magento team shared their views on this and confirmed this feature will come soon in their future releases.

The Magento team is already working on new features like Magento B2B and Shipping extension on top of Enterprise Plan. There will be major bug fixes in the upcoming version which we are looking forward to.

They are also in process to build Magento developers community where Magento developers will get a chance to work with Magento’s core team members. There is also a Slack chat room for any Magento related discussion and we are happy to be a part of it.
All in all, we had an amazing experience and gained a lot of insights on Magento 2. We are looking forward to the next Magento Live Event and more such Magento Contribution Days here in India.
