The Adobe Digital Economy Index
Due to the outbreak of the global pandemic coronavirus, the digital economy and market have skyrocketed exponentially, as more and more consumers and businesses are handling their processes in a digital-only environment. To facilitate this and help users understand this reality, Adobe has launched its Digital Economy Index – a real-time measure of the global digital economy. This index analyzes trillions of transactions and terabytes of Adobe Analytics data in real-time to bring forward powerful and deep insights that help users act on the changing digital commerce trends.
The Adobe Digital Economy Index Keynote was delivered by Mr. Shantanu Narayen, Chairman, President and CEO of Adobe. It is interesting to note that this index has already started giving us insights. The Digital Economy Index validates around 100 million product SKUs within Adobe and scales to 18 product categories. Here’s what we know from the index yet:
- Sales of products like groceries, cold medications and fitness equipment have increased by 55% and the sales of computers have increased by 40% due to the spread of COVID-19
- Buy Online and Pickup In-Store shopping increases by a staggering 62%
- A whopping 807% spike in sales of products like hand sanitizers, gloves, masks, and sprays between Jan 1st, 2020 and March 11th, 2020.
- Due to the pandemic, various coronavirus related products saw a significant jump in sales too – 217% increase in sales for clinical drug purchases, a 231% increase in sales for toilet paper and an 87% increase of canned goods and shelf-stable items.
Also, it has come forward that a big part of this surge also includes a decrease in the prices of online items.
Along with the DEI, the keynote also focused on the evolution of the customer experience, which led to a new product announcement – the CMX Playbook.
CXM Playbook Released
As IT is becoming more customer-centric and marketing is more data-driven, it truly has started the decade of CMOs and CIO. To help users align their C-suite with customer-centricity, Adobe introduced the new Customer Experience Management (CXM) Playbook. The CXM Playbook promises to give businesses a tangible plan for excelling in digital transformation.
The keynote was turned from Narayen over to Anil Chakravarthy, Executive Vice President and General Manager of digital experience in Adobe’s business unit, for a filling session on CXM. According to Chakravarthy, the CXM is a self-assessment playbook that analyzes an organization across six key areas – Digital First Culture, Data and Insights, Scalable Content, Optimize for Personalization, Customer Journey Management, and Commerce. Each of these areas consists of the best practices, self-assessments, notes-keeping place and the capability of finding process gaps in plans for the users. Also, users will receive learning resources, customized guides, recommendations and industry benchmarks from the CXM.
Within the Adobe Experience Cloud, Chakravarthy also mentioned a new class of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning services, with the general availability of Customer AI and Attribution AI.
